NYCOA Grade 2012 Receives Food Contact Substance Approval

Nylon Corporation of America (NYCOA), a manufacturer of specialty engineered nylon polymers, has been granted Food Contact Substance (FCS) approval for its novel film grade nylon resin 2012.  NYCOA 2012 was reviewed and granted food contact use by the FDA as a component of multilayer, single use food packaging constructions (excluding contact with infant formula and human milk).  

“NYCOA has decades of experience developing and commercializing specialty nylon resin chemistries, including nylon materials used for industrial film applications.  We are excited to announce 2012, our new food-contact-grade film component for use in consumer food products” said Jonathan McEuen, Vice President of Business Development and R&D at NYCOA.  

Film constructions are often used in food packaging to retain freshness, prevent damage, tampering or spills

NYCOA has produced engineered polyamide resins for over 70 years, including engineered copolymer nylon suited for specialty applications such as monofilament extrusion, specialty injection molding, films, hose and tubing extrusion, and more.  “NYCOA 2012 is developed by and unique to NYCOA, and we think it provides value to food packaging film producers offering good properties in puncture resistance, barrier properties such as moisture resistance, and flexibility” Jonathan added.
